Carnival “Suprises” Parkinsons co-ordinator

Posted on 20th November, 2025

Purbeck Parkys is a community group in Purbeck for people living with Parkinson’s Disease & supporting carers/families. They asked carnival for funds to subsidise their privately run classes so that no one is excluded on grounds of cost. Carnival supported the charity this year with a donation for £2000.

At our Presentation evening David Gynes who is the Coordinator for the PurbeckParkys Support Group gave a thank you speech to which he announced that with the donation he was going to buy a Lamborghini!! but soon changed his mind!! He is a lovely character and had the audience in stiches that night.

So, Carnival members Mary and her daughter Nadine had an idea to get him a Lamborghini – A toy one which was presented to him by Mary and Carnival secretary Kevin as a surprise at their monthly meeting where he was totally overjoyed. It was a great surprise to him and the group , the room was filled with laughter. The carnival team observed the group having a fantastic time getting into the festive spirit, with the theme of “Decorations and Dexterity”, making Christmas decorations — it was a lovely afternoon with plenty of laughter, creativity.
