Community Corner: Yoga on the Beach

What better way to start your carnival day than a guided yoga practice on the beach..?
Mark has been running a beach yoga practice on the beach for the last year, which has proved to be popular with both locals and visitors – around 400 people have now had a go..!
There will be a practice at 8am on each morning of Carnival week. The practice will take place on the sand just to the north of Banjo Pier.
Each 45 minute practice will be centred around gentle flowing movements – you will be on your feet the whole time, so it’s very kind to your wrists and shoulders.
The practice is suitable for adults of all ages and abilities, with no prior experience necessary. 14-18s are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Just a quick word for the men out there – yoga isn’t just for women, indeed there are 80 men in the beach yoga community in Swanage..!
No mats needed – just bring yourself, beach shoes, sunglasses, layers you can move in, some water and a sense of playfulness.
All proceeds go to the Carnival funds, you can pay by cash or card on the beach. Suggested donation of £5-10 per person.
Booking is essential, please contact Mark at mark@standupforyoga.com or on 07793311237 to reserve your space. You can come along once, or as often as you like.
If you are tempted to try the practice before carnival week, just contact Mark and he can add you to the regular what’s app group where you can book practices each Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the year.
