Local Notice To Mariners

Posted on 15th July, 2025

Swanage Carnival and Dorset Police have issued a joint notice to mariners, advising of two air displays on Saturday, July 26, featuring the Red Arrows and the Global Stars.

An advisory temporary air display water safety zone (ADWSZ) will be in force and patrolled for safety reasons.

The notice advises that “anchoring and movement of vessels under the flight area is not permitted” on that day from 11am to 12pm and again from 2.30pm to 3.20pm.

The safety zone is marked by yellow buoys and people on the water are advised to anchor or remain within the existing 5-knot speed limit zone or moor at the designated mooring at the south end of the bay.

Commercial vessels requiring access to Swanage Pier during the air display are advised to enter the ADWSZ only at the south end of the bay.

The area will be patrolled before and during the event by police vessels Sentinel and Invictus.

Failure to comply with the advisory notice may result in the air display being delayed, cut short or even cancelled.
