SSIT is working for people living with spinal cord injury, enabling greater independence and quality of life. Giving them the chance to re-experience the fundamental things we all take for granted. The Southern Spinal Injuries Trust raises money to purchase equipment for people with spinal cord injury living in the South and South West of England. The trust also provides resources, over and above that provided by the NHS, to support the patients cared for at The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury.
Dorset and Somerset
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is one of Swanage Carnival’s annual charities. The charity was established to provide relief from sickness and injury for the people of Dorset and Somerset, by the provision of an air ambulance. The charity receives no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and relies on the generosity of the public and organisation such as Swanage Carnival for support. With operational costs of over £3.5 million a year and the approximate cost per mission of £3,000, our annual support helps maintain a vital service in our community.
The Swanage Stroke Club is an organisation supported annually by Swanage Carnival. Part of the Stoke Association the Swanage Stroke Club welcomes new and existing members to attend regular events, offering a range of activities including listening to guest speakers, outings and games. The Club provides both social and communication support to stroke survivors and their families. Swanage Carnival has a long established relationship with this organisation and is proud to help provide help and support to stroke survivors in our community.
