Accessibility

This information is available to ensure that everyone can enjoy Swanage Carnival and includes information on activity locations as well as parking and toilet facilities.

The Swanage Carnival Showground is located on Sandpit Field (BH19 1NR), between De Moulham Road Shore Road.

Sandpit Field is a grassed area, and has several wheelchair accessible entry points. There are temporary toilet facilities located on Sandpit Field during Carnival week, including an accessible toilet. There are several other public toilet facilities located throughout Swanage Town, including those located on Shore Road which includes baby changing facilities and further accessible toilets.

The Marquee located on the Swanage Carnival Showground hosts several events throughout the week, including live music, cookery demonstrations and bingo. All events hosted in the marquee are wheelchair accessible. The Swanage Carnival Information tent can be found at the entrance to the Marquee.

The designated First Aid point is located to the South of the Showground Arena. There are two first aiders available at this point from the hours of 7am until 11pm. First Aid provisions are also available at all activities.

The Showground Arena is the focal point for many displays and activities throughout Swanage Carnival week. The Showground area is wheelchair accessible. Please consult the Swanage Carnival Information Tent on the showground for any questions relating to specific activities.

Surrounding the Showground Arena there are several catering stalls providing a range of food and drink offerings.

There are several events held on Shore Road (BH19 1LA) including children’s fun run competitions, Go Kart Grand Prix and the wheelbarrow race. Shore Road is located approximately 800m from Main Road Car Park and can be accessed via paved road with some incline.

Beach Gardens (BH19 1PG) is home to several competitions, including tennis competitions, bowls and putting. The nearest parking facilities to Beach Gardens is North Beach Car Park, approximately 640m on a paved road with some incline. Beach Gardens are wheelchair accessible, consisting of pathways through the grassed areas.

Prince Albert Gardens (BH19 2AR) is home to EHM night and the zipwire activity. The nearest car park to Prince Albert Gardens is Broad Road Car Park, approximately 100m. Prince Albert Gardens consists of paths through grassed areas and is on a steep incline.

The Quay (BH19 2NP) is the event start point for both the junior crabbing and the Swanage Bay Swim. The nearest car park is Broad Road Car Park, approximately 330m. Access from Broad Road Car Park is on a paved road with steep incline. Access to the Quay is a cobbled pedestrian pathway.

Long Stay Car Parks

The nearest public car park to the Showground is Main Beach Car Park (BH19 1PW), approximately 370m from Sandpit Field. There are multiple designated blue badge permit parking bays at Main Beach Car Park as well EV charging points. Access to Sandpit Field from Main Beach Car Park is relatively flat and paved.

North Beach Car Park (BH19 1NL) is the second closest public car park to Sandpit Field and is located approximately 800m away. Access to Sandpit Field from North Beach Car Park is along a paved road which has several inclines. There are also toilet facilities located at this car park, including designated changing places facilities.

Broad Road Car Park (BH19 2AP) is located approximately 1,120m from Sandpit Field and includes several designated blue badge holder parking bays.

There are two other short stay car parks in Swanage, located at Co-op (BH19 1PW), approximately 330m and the Recreation Ground Car Park (BH19 1DQ), approximately 170m.
