A huge congratulations to Brian Norman who was awarded a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to Swanage Carnival at Swanage Town Council’s Community Awards.

Brian has been a member of the Swanage Regatta and Carnival committee for 34 years, he was chair for four years, and has been president for 10 years. He has seen the carnival through good, and not so good times, and has been instrumental in putting committee procedures in place.

Brian has been a key member of the carnival’s continued success, and during his time as president raised more than £250,000 for local charities and good causes. Brian has been a key part of the carnival team, offering advice and support to the current and former chair, as well as running events and collecting money.

The judges commented “What an amazing asset to the town, and what an amazing achievement.”

“The success of the carnival over the past decade has a lot to do with this person, and away from the carnival, he has also been involved with the rowing club and coached the youth rowing team.”
